Updates
As our breeding program progresses and moves forward, our website will continue to grow and reflect these developments. Check this page often for information on the latest updates. New photographs and information are frequently added throughout the site.
"Archived Updates" from the "old" Little Eden website can be found here. The links have been removed, but a lot of our history, going all the way back to 2002 is contained within these archives. I thought it might be nice to take a trip down memory lane by going back and reading them again when I'm old and retired :-)

Puppies on the way!
March 7, 2023
The Upcoming Litters page has been updated. Hopefully we will have spring puppies! The better weatehr cannot get here soon enough!
Long cold winter days are the perfect excuse to sit at my desk and work on the website :-) Some long overdue updates can be found on each of our Girl's Offspring pages.

I'm sorry to say I did not make calendars to sell this year. I've had several inquiries, so maybe next year?
Breeding plans for 2023 are currently being worked on and will be updated as they become finalized. Please check Upcoming Litters for details. Raising quality puppies remains one of our greatest joys!

As age is catching up with me, I have seriously slowed down on the long distance travel required to attend most JRT trials. Lucky me though! I get to participate vicariously through many dedicated owners of Little Eden terriers and their descendants. It is a great feeling to know that these dogs are bringing as much joy to others as they do me :-) And success too, in many divisions! Not only in conformation, but GTG, Super Earth, Agility and Obedience too. Form follows function!

It's only taken five years, but we have finally made a page for Rascal. Please join me in welcoming Little Eden Rascal to our Stud Dog lineup. We are excitedly awaiting our first litter from this awesome smooth boy in May :-)

It's been a long cold, and SNOWY winter here so far! The girls it seems are waiting for better weather too. We're hoping that with the longer daylight hours they will start cycling soon. We have puppies planned for this spring and summer - stay tuned!
We have a new Archive/History Page! This page honors those terriers that have contributed to our program, but are no longer actively showing or being bred. Take a look here!

Our terriers more than did us proud this fall at Northgate, the Canadian National and the JRTCA National Trials. But the best part was seeing our terrier friends after two long years! Results can be seen on each dog's page.
We are working on our breeding plans for 2022 - see Upcoming Litters for more info.

We are currently working on a large update to this site with several new dogs to be added. It may be a slow process done on rainy days in between caring for dogs and chickens, but we'll eventually get it done! So far we've got Upcoming Litters updated, and we've added few new photos to Atticus's Offspring page. Take a look and we hope you enjoy! We've added a new page for Samba and now introducing Raven Wolf Aspen!

Spring is right around the corner and it can't come soon enough! We are so hoping to get back to some sort of normal this year. Puppies are on the way for April and with any luck, we'll be able to start attending terrier trials again when enough people can get vaccinated.

It's been way too long, so, this will be a big update - lots of news and many added photos :-)
First off, 2020 Calendars have arrived and are ready to go. We are really pleased with how they turned out this year! Please click here for ordering instructions.
We are currently working on litter plans for the coming year and have posted some updates here.
We've finally done a long overdue update to Wrinkle's Legacy Page, adding new photos to the sixth and seventh generations, and also adding an eighth generation. This photo documentary of our breeding journey has us absolutely amazed! The consistency bestowed upon our line of terriers by Wrinkle, even eight generations removed is nothing short of incredible to us. We were so honored and blessed to have her as our foundation and are proud that we have been able to help preserve and carry on what she had to offer the breed.
We have also added an Offspring Page for Leica. New photos of our family have been added to the About section, and most of the Main pages for our terriers as well as their Offspring Pages have new photos too. Happy Browsing!
Now, on to news from an amazing fall Terrier Trial season!
Northgate celebrated it's 20th anniversary this year and while these trials are always really special, this year Doug and Sue Tack truly outdid themselves. The Parade of Champions was a history lesson of whose who with so many outstanding terriers on display. Congratulations to Linda Cowasjee and Windermere Tiffany for taking the trophy! We were honored to have participated with Rapscallion Rowdy, Venery Chip, Little Eden Rocky (expertly handled by Chris Rizzo - thank you!) and Little Eden Tango (expertly handled by Lindsay McKenna - thank you!) .
From there the "regular" trial commenced with huge classes in many divisions. Martyn Hulme was the judge for this day. And a great day it was for our terriers: Our young girl Little Eden Samba (Tango x Ruffles) started it out for us by taking second place in her 4-6 month class out of 18 beautiful bitch puppies. Little Eden Atticus won his 6-9 month Dog Pup class, with his sister Britta taking a very nice second place in her class. In the Working Division, our two Strut sons Venery Chip and Little Eden Tango each won their respective classes. Amazingly, a third Strut son, Thornbush Sumac, (bred by Char Smith, and owned by Ted Ely) also won his class, Bronze Medallion Dog. Chip and Sumac ended up as Best Working Terrier Dog and Reserve and ultimately Working Terrier Champion and Reserve. Strong genes for sure! In the Working Bitches, our girls Little Eden Ruffles and Thornbush Camphor each won their classes. As it happens Cam's breeder Char Smith was in attendance and it was my great honor to hand over the lead and enjoy watching Char show "our" girl to be Reserve Best Working Terrier Bitch. We brought one dog for the Open Division - Little Eden Rocky who won Bred By Exhibitor Dog , then on to Best Open Dog and Reserve Best Open Terrier with Windermere Tiffany (bred and owned by Linda Cowasjee) as Best. Our boy Quinn's Hammond's Aiken won the Stud Dog and Get Class with Little Eden Ruffles, Huckle Hill Juno, (bred by Karen Crowley, owned and handled by Sandra Ferber), and Latest Addition Keen, (bred, owned and handled by Chris Rizzo) by his side. It was a Family to be proud of and I thank Chris and Sandra for their help both days! Aiken ended up taking Reserve Best Family to Jill Acland's outstanding girl Venery Bramble who won Brood Bitch and Produce and then Best Family. This is a huge honor, especially for a bitch and having it come at a trial like Northgate made it all the more special! The day was rounded out when Laura Maher showed our co-owned boy Rapscallion Rowdy to Best Veteran - phew! A great day all around!
Northgate, Day two: John Broadhurst judging. This time Little Eden Samba had her day - Best 4 - 6 Month Puppy! Atticus once again won his class and then went on to be Reserve Best Dog Puppy behind Shingle Oak Captain Morgan (bred by Diane Wright, owned by Paula and Bill Butts). Britta was again second in her class to the lovely Fox Run Bella (bred by Sandra Ferber, co-owned by Sandra Ferber and Karen Crowley), but on this day she also went on to be Reserve Best Bitch Puppy and overall Reserve Puppy Champion behind Bella who was Champion. Tango and Chip both won their Working Terrier class again with Chip going forward and taking Best Working Terrier Dog and then Reserve Working Terrier Champion to DigEmOut Tweed (bred and owned by Janon Frei). Ruffles was Reserve Working Terrier Bitch to Tweed. In the Open Division Rocky was second in Bred By Exhibitor Dog to Sea Dog Stewie (bred and owned by Denis DeCosta). And Aiken once again won Stud Dog & Get and went on to take Best Family! An amazing weekend with great people and awesome terriers.

And Aiken once again won Stud Dog & Get and went on to take Best Family! An amazing weekend with great people and awesome terriers.
Next on the calendar was the Canadian National Trial, this year judged by Lisa Drinkwater. We really lucked out with the weather - it was truly spectacular. Saturday started with our Little Eden Samba going Best 4-6 Month Puppy. in the 6 - 12 month puppy Division, Atticus won his class and went on to be Best Dog Puppy. His sister Little Eden Britta won her class, was Best Bitch Puppy and then went on to be named the 2019 Canadian National Puppy Champion! To finish day one, in the Working Division, Little Eden Tango was second in his class to Northgate Grant (bred and owned by Doug and Susan Tack), Venery Chip won his class and went on to be Best Working Dog, with Grant as Reserve. Little Eden Ruffles came second in Bred By Exhibitor Bitch to the incredible Northgate Kennedy (bred and owned by Doug and Susan Tack), and our Thornbush Camphor was second to Northgate Tyler (bred and owned by Doug and Sue Tack) in her class. Tyler ended up being Best Working Bitch with Kennedy as Reserve. Drum roll please! Canadian National Champion for 2019 is Venery Chip with Northgate Tyler as Reserve! You could have knocked me over with a feather! A result made all the sweeter and more meaningful by the exemplary quality of all the terriers competing. A day to remember for sure! On to Sunday: Little Eden Rocky was second in Bred By Exhibitor Dog. Then Quinn's Hammond's Aiken won Stud Dog and Get and then Best Family. We are so proud of our dogs and are thankful and grateful to the trial organizers for the opportunity to come and have some fun with friends and dogs. I am also incredible grateful to those who took and shared photos to help preserve these precious memories. Thank you!
And finally, the JRTCA National!, with Ring One being judged by Kevin Allen. Once again we were blessed with superb weather, great friends, and gorgeous terriers for the weekend. We arrived on Thursday to set up, and allow for a day of socializing and attending the Judges meeting on Friday. An early dinner and then up and at 'em first thing on Saturday, ready to let the terriers strut their stuff. First up was our girl Little Eden Samba. She did us proud and came third in a tough class. Next to show was Atticus. He came second in the 9-12 month Dog Pup class and on to be Reserve Best Dog Puppy behind Northgate Knox (bred by Doug & Sue Tack, owned by Mike Terry)! Yay! Then our beautiful Britta went second in her class, and on to Reserve Best Bitch Puppy - and then - Britta was Reserve JRTCA National Puppy Champion behind the lovely Terrier Tales Snowie (bred and owned by Lillian Leno). To say we were thrilled would be an understatement! I dreamed of Venery Bramble being crossed with our male Aiken and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dear friend and breeding partner Jill Acland for making it possible :-) Britta and Atticus are the result of this outstanding cross and we feel blessed to have them. Now, on to the Working Division. Our boys pulled off the same results as they had in Canada - Tango going second behind Northgate Grant in his Bred By Exhibitor class and Chip wining his class. Then, low and behold Chip was once again Best Working Dog with Grant as Reserve. In the Working Bitches we had a brief moment of heart palpitations when the Judge pulled Ruffles out in first place ahead of Northgate Kennedy, but it was short lived as he switched them in the end. Hey, it was great fun while lasted - LOL! Our Thornbush Camphor went second to Northgate Tyler in her class as well. Kennedy and Tyler took the Best and Reserve Working Bitch awards. Well deserved and Congratulations to the Tacks! Then it was back in the ring With Chip for the final ..... I actually felt my hair stand up and got goosebumps when the announcer called Chip as the Champion - an incredible feeling! And an incredible terrier! The incomparable Kennedy took Reserve Champion. Another incredible terrier! I felt tears sting my eyes as I motioned Chip's breeder Jill Acland into the ring for photos and to bask in the glory along with us. What a day! What a year! We then regrouped and got ready for the Family classes. Our boys Aiken (with Ruffles, Britta and Latest Addition Keen) and Tango (with Samba, Fleetstreet Crimson, bred, owned and handled by Meghan Rabon and Venery Java, bred, owned and handled by Jill Acland) were third and fifth respectively in the Stud Dog & Get class. In the Generations class our good friend Jen Pierce took top honors with her entry of Little Eden Gwen with daughter Raven Wolf Celebration and granddaughter Raven Wolf Evolution - and this for the second year in a row! On Sunday we had one dog entered - Little Eden Rocky who took a very respectable second place behind Fiery Fox Coalman in the Bred By Exhibitor dog class. I would also like to give a shout out to Susan Gill and her boy Little Eden Lager. This hard working team won the National Go to Ground Championship and the Melissa Clayton Memorial Trophy for the fastest time of the day as well as the JRTCA Challenge Reserve Award for the highest number of GTG points in 2019! Congratulations Susan! Further congratulations go out to Don and Sheryl Gaskell on Little Eden Swagger earning his Bronze Medallion for Special merit in the Field and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Continued Service in the Field. Great job and thank you for helping Swagger live up to his potential!

Summer is going by so quickly! Before we know it fall will be here (and then winter - Yikes!) We've been busy working coats to be ready for the fall trials, and picking a ton of blueberries to freeze for winter eating.
We are lucky to have many free local music gatherings and we've been taking full advantage of them. They are enjoyable evenings for us and perfect opportunites to take young pups out for some socializing.

On July 19th we hosted our annual CERF testing clinic preceeded by a pot-luck dinner and social time with several other breeders of these great little terriers. Thanks to one and all for participating in this important annual health testing and for the great food and company! We are very happy to report that we had good results for all of our dogs.
We are also happy to report that Lotus has whelped her litter and that Mom and her three puppies are doing well. On a not so happy note, unfortunaltey it does not appear that Campher has concieved this year. We will have to try again next year with her. To help take some of the sting out of this (for those who have been so patiently waiting for a puppy) we decided to go ahead and plan an additional litter for this fall. These puppies will be spoken for by those already on our reservation list. Our breeding plans for 2020 are currently under consideration and will be posted in the next few months.

We made the long trek to Virginia to attend the JRTCA Museum Benifit Trials. We decided to make it an easy trip and only brought a few puppies who needed the experience, and our boy Tango to support the Working Terrier Division. They did not disappoint! Little Eden Britta won her class both days. On Saturday she went on to be named Best 4 - 6 Month Puppy with her litter sister Little Eden Brim, owned by Jill Acland coming Reserve Best! Little Eden Shaylene also won her class both days and was Puppy Champion on Sunday - and this was her first show ever! The future looks bright indeed!

Our first trial of the year is in the books and we couldn't be more proud of how our crew did! Tango made his debut in the Working Terrier division and was Champion both days. We just love this young dog and believe in him wholeheartedly. He is proving himself not only as a worker and a best friend, but also as an up and coming young sire. Check out his updated Offspring Page here.
Atticus and Britta, our two 4 - 6 month puppies (Aiken x Venery Bramble) also did us proud, each winning their class. Atticus topped it off by being named Best 4 - 6 Month Puppy on both Saturday and Sunday.
And finally, Allspice and Nutmeg are adults now and had their first classes with the big girls. Allspice took a very respectable third place in the always tough Bred By Exhibitor Bitch class, and Nuttymeg won her smooth class both days. Even more exciting, they both saw some action in their first time out in the field this past week Let's just say that they are living up to their pedigree in spades!

We've had some exciting news from the Spring Fling Terrier Trial in Virginia! Congratulations to our co-owners Megan and Kendal Blankinship on Little Eden Lotus (Little Eden Tango x Little Eden Lily) going Best Open Terrier both days! We can't thank Megan enough for her hard work and grooming/handling skills in presenting Lotus to advantage!
Congratulations as well to Meghan and Tommy Rabon on their homebred Fleet Street Crimson (Little Eden Tango x Fleet Street Twister) going Puppy Champion and to Chris Rizzo and his homebred Latest Addition Keen (Quinn's Hammond's Aiken x Little Eden Fancy) as Reserve Puppy Champion at the Spring Fling II. Well done and well deserved all around!!

This is going to be an exciting month here at Little Eden with puppies due starting this week! Hopefully spring will finally make an appearance as well - it's been a long cold winter and we're ready!
Flossie started her new life today - she has been spayed and has gone to live with our son in their new house. She will get to be the spoiled princess she's always known she is :-)

Puppies due! Breeding plans for 2019 have been updated on the Upcoming Litters page,
Meanwhile, we have been doing our best to enjoy this winter season, cold as it may be. January was a great month for getting the terriers out into the field and we are proud to annouce that Ruffles and Tango have each earned their first Natural Hunting Certificate. The ground has since frozen solid, but with any luck we are hoping to get out a time or two more before the season ends. In the meantime, we are enjoying daily walks and romps in the snow - enjoy the photos! Be sure to click on them to see a larger version :-)

It has been a busy and fun summer filled with lots of sunny days and puppy playtime. We are looking froward to the fall season and hope to get to several Trials before the year is done. Stay tuned!

Even though the weather sure doesn't seem like spring so far, our spring litters have begun to arrive :-) Flossie whelped one male and one female on February 28th and Leela just had four males and three females on April 2nd. Cam is due on May 20th, and we have one or two more litters planned for June. It will be a very busy and fun spring and summer around here! It does look like we will miss a few trials due to puppy sitting duties, but hey, it seems like worthwhile trade-off :-) We have added an Offspring page for Ruffles and are working on one for Flossie. Be sure to check them out.

Introducing Little Eden Flory ( Little Eden Tango x Little Eden Flossie). We are super excited about this young girl and feel sure that great things are in store for her under the guidance of our co-owner and dear friend Shirley Buist!
November 18, 2017
This update is very long over due - sorry! We had a great summer here at Little Eden - fun with puppy's and some time in the field with our green dogs.
The fall Trials went very well for us. Chip had an especially good season winning the Working Terrier Championship four out of the six times he was shown - including the Canadian National Championship. He was also Res, Best Working Dog at the American National this year.
Other highlights from the American National include Little Eden Lotus, co-owned with Megan Van den Elzen and Kendal Blankinship going Best 4-6 Month Puppy and Little Eden Jolene, co-owned with Sandy Ryan Coleman going Res. Best 6 -12 Month Bitch Puppy.
We have to add a very special shout out and congratulations to Susan Gill and her partner in crime Littler Eden Lager. They have won so may GTG and Super Earth Championships this year I'm not sure I can keep it all straight! They cleaned up at the Breezewood series and absolutely kicked butt at the JRTCA National where they were GTG Champions, Super Earth Champions and also won the prestigious Melissa Clayton Perpetual Trophy for the overall fastest time of the day! I'm not sure how they will ever top that! All I can say is "what a team"!
In other news, please take a look at our new additions: Quinn's Hammond's Aiken, the new man in town, and Little Eden Leica, our keeper puppy from Leela's 2017 litter. We are excited to see what these two will bring to our program in the coming months and years.
We've also added a Sire Of pager for Tango. We are extremely pleased with what he has done so far in his young stud career. His daughters Lotus and Flory are looking like stars in the making!
2018 Calendars will ship starting next week. Order yours today!

Lots of news! The first trial of the season has come and gone. and our dogs once again did us proud. Chip was Working Terrier Champion both days, and Rocky went Best Open Terrier on Saturday. Beau was second in a very nice class both days. Tango showed like a champ and won his class on Saturday. The puppies got their first big road trip and show under their belts. Ruffles was a class winner and also Reserve Best Bitch Pup on Saturday, and Cam won her class as well. Little Jolene won her class both days and was Reserve Best 4-6 month puppy on Saturday. The best part was that they handled the trip well and showed like little pros.
Thornbush Camphor now has her own page in The Girls section. We are super excited about this girl - she is a true credit to her breeder! Thanks Char!
We've added lots of new puppy pictures throughout the site. Please check out Leela's Offspring, Chip's Offspring, and Rocky's Offspring. Additions have also been made to the 7th generation of Wrinkle's Legacy. New pics on Tango's page as well. We are so pleased with how he is maturing and look forward to seeing his first litters on the ground this year.

Best laid plans and all that! We were thinking Salsa would come in season in December, but she had other ideas. Instead, she will hopefully be giving birth in December to Little Eden Rocky's first litter. Check out the Upcoming Litters page for more details.

The spring trial season is underway and we couldn't be more thrilled with how our crew is doing! Chip and Remedy made their debut in the Working Terrier Division taking Champion and Reserve respectively both days at the Yankee Trials in CT. Our youngsters have also debuted with a bang! Rocky was Puppy Champion both days in CT, and also at Breezewood on Saturday. Little Tango was Best 4-6 Month Puppy both days in CT, and was res. 3-6 Month Puppy on Saturday at Breezewood. The icing on the cake though was Sunday when he was Best 3-6 Month Puppy and went on to be named the overall Puppy Champion up against the big kids! Go Tango!! We will work on getting these two boys their own pages in a week or two once things settle from our Trial marathon. On to Mason Dixon later this week!
Our spring litters have arrived. All puppies are spoken for at this time. If all goes well we will have another litter in early July, but reservation wait times may in fact extend into next year. Contact us for details - the best things in life are always worth waiting for :-)

Congratulations to Wendy Schmaltz on the purchase of Little Eden Brewmeister! We will miss the little guy around here, but are happy to know he will enjoy life on the farm and that his outstanding genetics will be well utilized.
Our beautiful and oh so special girl Lofty has been retired. She now spends her days hanging with her old pal Little Eden Stroll, digging in the garden, and snuggling on the couch. Thanks Becky and Mike!

Spring is coming and plans for this year's litters are well under way! In the mean time, we are working on a few changes within this site, switching the slide shows to galleries on each dog's page so the photos can be viewed larger. Hope you like it!

Another Trial season has come and gone, and what better way to finish it off than at the JRTCA National? This year we enjoyed great friends, wonderful weather, and being surrounded by some of the best Jack Russells in the world! Nothing better! Our kennel was very well represented with ribbons for all of the dogs we had with us. We are especially proud of those terriers who have gone on to have great success for others, whether bred by us, or descending from our dogs and bitches. It is really quite humbling to look around the various events and see the influence that dogs like our main man Little Eden Strut continue to have. He is a special dog indeed (14 years old now!), and so very near and dear to my heart. There were so many awesome moments over the weekend, but the absolute highlight had to be our lovely girl Lofty taking the Working Terrier Conformation Championship - from the Veteran Class! Also high on the list was Leo's win in the always tough Bred By Exhibitor Dog class. He is such a fun dog to have on the end of a lead, and he showed his heart out! To finish out the weekend Cha Cha made the final five in the Best Bitch Class. This may not seem like much to some, but in reality it was huge honor to be among those "singled out" for special notice in such an incredible line up. We'd like to extend Congratulations to all the winners of the weekend - well done all around!
Introducing:
Little Eden Rocky, by Canadian National Champion Little Eden Remedy and out of Multiple Canadian and American National Champion Little Eden Lofty. He has some pretty big shoes to fill, but he is sure he's up to the challenge - LOL! Click on the thumbnails below to meet our newest little hopeful!

Fall has arrived, and that means Nationals time! Our gang did us proud at last week's Canadian National. This trial historically is not especially large in number of entries, but it ranks right up there among the very best for depth of quality among said entry. This, coupled with great friends and wonderful weather made it a truly memorable weekend. On Saturday morning our youngsters Little Eden Flossie and Little Eden Melody were Best 4 - 6 Month Puppy and Reserve respectively.
In the Working Terrier Division, Jill Acland had Little Eden Dempsey looking fantastic (as usual!) and he took the Best Working Dog honors, with the Reserve going to the still very impressive 8 year old veteran Chatt Town Baker. At the end of the day though, it was the girls who took it all with Conquest Tart as Working Terrier Champion and our own veteran, Little Eden Lofty as Reserve. This was no mean feat as both of these girls are coming off pups!
On Sunday our boy Little Eden Remedy was Best Open Dog, with the Reserve going to another "under," Conquest Rival. And then, at the end of the day, Remedy was named Best Open Terrier! We could not be more proud of this little guy! There were some really nice dogs in attendance, and as in past years, the girls were simply unbelievably steeped in quality! Huge Congrats to Jean Veazey on winning Best Open Bitch and Reserve Open Terrier with her gorgeous girl Shelmar Roux! If I'm not mistaken, this is kind of repeat for Remedy and Roux - they were Canadian National Puppy Champion and Reserve here last year!

Welcome to our "New" website! The old site , being built in FrontPage, was no longer supported by the servers. I was not able to get in and do any updating. It became clear that there was no choice but to build a new site. Yikes! Initially I found this terribly intimidating. However, with some work and research, I was able to find a "site builder" I could work with (thanks Weebly!) Turns out I had an absolute blast doing this!
Much of the information contained herein remains the same, and some has not been included this time around. All of the photos are new, can be viewed larger, and with higher resolution compared to the old site. I love this feature as I have been getting more serious about photography the past couple of years.
This site will continue to be a work in progress, and we will be adding information and perhaps a few new sections as time allows. In the mean time, have a seat, grab a cup of tea, and enjoy!
Sincerely,
Michelle Ward
